The Soka Health Advocacy and Research Program
(SHARP) prepares interns to advance health equity through research, advocacy, education, and community partnership.
Interns collaborate with community partners to examine local health needs, design and implement evidence-informed initiatives, and evaluate their impact while gaining experience in project development, communication, and public health practice.
SHARP offers two tracks:
• The Youth Health Track, in partnership with the
International School for Science and Culture (ISSAC), promotes health literacy among elementary and middle school students through community-based education.
• The Older Adult Health Track partners with local senior living communities to promote healthy aging through wellness education and intergenerational engagement.
SHARP is open to 2nd 4th year students from all concentrations. This is open to international students.
Applicants to the Youth Health Track must be on campus during the spring semester. Students in both tracks should keep Friday afternoons available for on-site community engagements.
