The mission of the Office of Student Leadership and Service Engagement is to inspire students to positively impact their local and global communities through involvement, leadership development, and service and to provide pathways for meaningful engagement to lead a contributive life.

The Soka Contributive Leadership Framework is rooted in Daisaku Ikeda's humanistic educational philosophy and guides the language of leadership development in Student Affairs at Soka University of America (SUA). The framework is based on the four principles of the university to:

-  Foster leaders of culture in the community

-  Foster leaders of humanism in society

-  Foster leaders of pacificism in the world

-  Foster leaders for the creative coexistence of nature and humanity

Through mutually beneficial university and community partnerships, students explore social issues by engaging in direct service, reflection, and critical dialogue. We aspire to be a resource that encourages and empowers students to become global leaders.
