Residential Information

  • Room Policies

We expect that you will want to make your room feel comfortable. IF your roommate, talk about rearranging the furniture within your room to suit both of your tastes. All university room furniture must remain in the room. Furniture in public areas is not to be relocated and must remain in the designated public areas for the benefit and enjoyment of the hall community. Please understand that if you rearrange the furniture designated for your room in a different configuration, you must return it to its original location prior to check-out of the residence halls. Residents who share a room have the option of a loft style or bunk bed set up. Residents who have single rooms have the option of loft style setup. As there are a limited number of bunk and loft style beds, the Residential Life Staff will communicate a deadline for requests to all residents. Please understand that once your bed has been lofted/bunked, it will remain lofted/ bunked for the entire academic year.

  • Student ID Cards

With the safety of our community in mind, while in the residence halls (including all public areas and student rooms), residents must carry their Soka Student ID cards on their person at all times. Residents must be able to show their ID card in case of emergency or incident, and will be required to present their ID card if asked by a Residential Life staff member or University official.

  • Card Keys

Residents are issued two card keys for identification and access to campus services and facilities. Using your ID car key, you will be able to enter buildings and dine in the dining hall. Your room key card grants you access to your room and hall entrance. For your security and others, take care of your card keys; do not give your key to anyone, including guests. If you lose or damage your card keys, please notify the Residential Life staff immediately for the card to be deactivated. To secure a card key replacement at no charge, please complete a Facilities Work Request Form at your respective Front Office.

In an effort to increase security in out community, the side entrance doors located in Sunrise Hall 300, Abeona Hall 305, Sunset Hall 380, and Somnus Hall 385 are only accessible for entry during the hours of 6:00am to 10:00pm. After these hours, residents enter through the main 1st or 2nd floor residence hall entry doors.
