As you prepare to come to SUA, below are some ideas on what to pack.

In addition, you may want to look at CollegeBoard's Off-to-College Checklist for a more extensive list of things to consider bringing/buying.

Please keep in mind that we have a Walmart and Target nearby campus so you may want to wait to buy more bulkier or everyday items once you arrive to campus. You also have the option of sending packages to the Mail Center. Please check the Welcome Brochure on the parameters of what and when packages can be sent to the Mail Center.

Sending Packages to the Mail Center

Entering first year students may send personal items ahead of their scheduled residence hall check-in and pick them up at the Mail Center after check-in in accordance with the guidelines outlined below:

I. Time frame of Mailing

Items which are within the size and weight restrictions may be sent to the mailing address (see section III) from July 1 of the student’s entering academic year. The University is NOT able to store items before July 1 and therefore will not accept deliveries prior to that date. The University is not responsible for returned packages, any associated shipping and handling costs or other related costs or fees.

II. Size and Weight Restrictions & Quantity Limits

Due to limited storage, Soka University Mail Services will only accept the following units from July 1.

- A maximum of four (4) units per student (boxes, packages, luggage, containers...)
- The weight limit of each unit not to exceed 50 lbs. (23 kg)
- The dimensions of each unit is not to exceed 18 X 16 X 16 inches.

Oversized Units
For units exceeding the size and weight restrictions as listed above, the University will only accept such deliveries after August 6. The University is not able to store oversized units before August 6 and therefore will not accept deliveries prior to that date. The University is not responsible for returned packages, any associated shipping and handling costs or other related costs or fees.
